Ever the iconoclast, Jon doesn't make prints the way everyone else does. His are digital prints which he mounts on 1" plywood, pressing them so that the wood texture shows through, touches them up around the edges and varnishes them. Here are a couple of pictures.
From the side you can see how he's painted the side of the wood black. They're meant to hang that way. The ones hanging a little farther away from the camera are paintings, by the way. It's Jon's intention that they look the same to a casual glance.
Here's the back side of the Cash print, showing title, number, signature and date.
You'll notice it's an edition of 15 - pretty small. That's the way he likes it.

**And don't miss Jon & Steve at the Continental Club, Saturday, September 5 at 10PM**
We'll be celebrating our 20th anniversary on Friday, September 4 with art & music by Jon Langford & Steve Wynn. Jon has been a part of our family since early '96 and is familiar to anyone who's followed us over the years.
Steve Wynn is new to us. Sort of. He's played many of our March Parties, either with his bands Steve Wynn & the Miracle 3 or Baseball Project, but this will be the first time we've shown his art. Actually, it will be his first art show anywhere. He's done some painting over the years and one of his paintings was used as the cover for the Dream Syndicate's album "Ghost Stories."
Steve will have a new album, available only from him, titled "solo! electric!". The front cover is a hand drawn self-portrait of sorts but the inside panel of the digipack is left intentionally blank so that he can draw a new Instant Alternate Cover. He'll be drawing instant album covers for anyone who buys the cd. There will also be some available for purchase online.
Steve and Jon will each have paintings in the show and will perform a few songs as well.

Jon was interviewed by William Harries Graham (son of guitarist/songwriter Jon Dee Graham) for the Austin Chronicle, and it's a mighty good read. Check it out here.

Jo Clauwaert & his wife Katrien Devos came over from Belgium, Langford came down from Chicago, and a good time was had by all. Here are a few pics to prove it.

We're happy to be showing new art by our old friend Jon Langford and his old friend Belgian artist Jo Clauwaert. Langford's mixed media paintings on wood grapple with political and pop culture images and meanings. Clauwaert, who has spent a good deal of time at sea documenting the lives of his fishermen friends, has drawn on those experiences as inspiration for his metaphoric and fantastical prints. Please join us.

Jon just sent us a few new paintings. Check them out on his page.
