Austin artist-musician-muralist-skateborder Tim Kerr has lived in Austin since the mid-1970's. He graduated from UT, where he studied photography under Gary Winogrand. In the early 1980's he was involved in the DIY punk/hardcore music scene, playing in bands The Big Boys, Bad Mother Goose, Poison 13 and many more. His current band is Up Around The Sun
Tim paints on paper, cardboard, wood, skateboards, old record jackets, maps, etc. He's also a muralist.
Tim says the title of this show, Seek What They Sought, comes from a poem by Matsuo Bashō: "don’t follow in the footsteps of the masters, seek what they sought."
You'll notice that Tim signs all of his work Your Name Here. "It’s a call to arms," he says, "to participate in your own self expression. It might plant the seed that you can do something too."
