“El Tres De Augusto”
Based on an Amish farm in Sugar Valley where I used to get my eggs. I love the backdrop of the mountain in the peak of summer when everything is glowing and lush. Many of my paintings depict the inhabitants in some sort of conflict with the wild animals of Appalachia. This one also evolved so that it made me think of the famous Goya painting “El Tres De Mayo.” Instead of the French firing upon the Spanish, there is a local at war with the bears who rebel and fight back from both sides.
