Artist statement: Rosa Parks has been quoted as saying "I was one of many" and the women on this painting were just a few of the ones that came before her. They all refused to give up their seat to make a stand. What that means to me is that we are all making history. That there is so much more around us that we may never know about but I for one am always curious. There are a lot more unsung folks that we should be celebrating.
