Brothers Jad Fair & David Fair are up next with a post-holiday art show, featuring Jad Fair's cutout paintings of album covers and David Fair's ghost paintings. The Fair Brothers are founding members of the indescribably different rock band Half Japanese and long-time artists. Jad will be here at the gallery for the opening. Join us!

Vinyl sets with Mom n' Pop

From October 11 - November 27 Yard Dog will be showing art by Jon Langford, Eric Bellis, and Kevin Lycett. The three are associated with the British rock band/art collective the Mekons, which has been together in one form or another since 1976. Langford & Lycett were founding members, with Lycett staying in the band through 1983 or so. Eric Bellis joined in 1984, and he and Langford continue performing with the band to this day. They just released their umpteenth album, "Existentialism," the cd version of which comes with a 96-page book of writing and art. There will be a limited number of copies of "Existentialism" available at the opening.

Langford will be showing paintings incorporating his signature country singers, cowboys, skeletons, and skeleton cowboys.

Eric Bellis paints Western Americana: buffalo, cowboys, native americans.

Lycett is contributing a collection of mini-paintings of mini-monsters.

The opening reception on October 15 will also feature a short performance by the Mini Mekons, with Langford, Bellis, and Mekons singer Sally Timms. The band will play a longer set later that evening down the street at the Continental Club.

We'll be featuring the art of Nashville artist Harry Underwood beginning September 7. Harry will join us for the opening reception on Saturday September 10 from 7 - 9 pm. You should join us, too.

We'll be presenting a spectacular new collection of work by Calgary woodcut artist Lisa Brawn titled "¿Quién Es Más Macho? Wes Anderson vs. The Wild Birds of Texas." We'll be showing her Pop Wes Anderson woodcuts and Folk birds, set up in ¿Quién Es Más Macho? showdowns.

Lisa will be here for the opening on Saturday, June 11, and the show will be online & in the gallery from then through the end of July.

We'll be taking part in Art City Austin this year, showcasing art by Bob Schneider, Jon Langford, Harry Underwood and more. Art City Austin is an art fair at the Palmer Events Center featuring Texas galleries & artists.

Steve Keene is a Brooklyn-based multi-media artist, famous for his hand-painted multiples, who has showcased his work internationally and locally. With an estimated 300,000 pieces in public and private collections, Keene’s hand-painted multiples make him one of the most prolific artists ever. Taking a cue from screen printing and woodworking, he is well-known among independent music fans for creating original album artwork, video sets, stage sets and posters for such musical luminaries as Silver Jews, Pavement, The Apples in stereo, Soul Coughing, The Klezmatics and The Dave Matthews Band, among others. 
Keene likes to think of his work as an endless painting with no boundaries – one that becomes an environment for people to participate. Watching him work on hand painted multiples is mysterious and engaging – the colors and strokes build over time in a rhythmic pattern and the form emerges much like a building takes shape as the bricks are laid. People watch, wait and ultimately walk away with an actual piece of his ongoing endless painting right in their hands. 
We are also debuting new work by Steve that he calls Tattooed Plywood - carved and etched patterned paintings on plywood. Very cool & different. 
Steve won't be here Saturday night but we'll have 100+ pieces of his art on hand, and they're cheap - so come on down!

Remember, no cover, no tickets, absolutely free, no rsvp. Walk, take a bus, take a cab/Uber/Lyft - super hard to find parking!
